The Skinny: The Bonnies enter the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2012. St. Bonaventure had its 13-game win streak snapped against Davidson in the conference tournament semifinal, but have 25 wins to match the program record set by the 1969-70 Final Four team. Senior guard Jaylen Adams is the A-10 co-player of the year.
“Florida’s got four or five days on us, so we’ll be watching tape on the plane,” Schmidt said. “We’ve got a 2 a.m. flight, but it couldn’t be a better flight. Ever.”
St. Bonaventure set a school record with its 26th win. The undersized Bonnies lack depth and were glad to get Stockard back from the hamstring injury. He’s scored 21, 31, 22, 19 and 26 points in the last five games.
St. Bonaventure’s 26 wins surpass the 25 by the 1969-70 team that reached the Final Four.
St. Bonaventure’s win Tuesday was its first in the NCAA Tournament since 1970, when it beat Davidson, N.C. State and Villanova before losing to Jacksonville. The Bonnies had lost three NCAA Tournament games — in 1978, 2000 and 2012 — since that last win in 1970.
Not surprisingly, Florida is favored (by 6.5).
Don’t bet that White won’t lay an egg — it happened often this year.
Just a thought, they do not have a big presence underneath. In a way, we become the big team. So for this matchup, the Gators do NOT have to shoot lights out, we’ll be able to establish an inside presence, and the driving lanes will be open. We can win this game with a mediocre shooting night.
why do you make comments if all you have to write is negative?
GO GATORS
bf is simply a Nole troll. He claims to be a former high school coach, but hasn’t bothered to offer any proof. I think before he coached he was an astronaut and a brain sugeon.
He lost any credibility when he decided to bash Billy Donovan earlier this season.
bf never had credibility! When our season is over he’ll just go on being negative about someone or something else. It’s a great way to live your life – NOT!
we win the first round then get killed by Texas Tech in round 2…
bank on it!
I’m convinced we can beat just about anyone in the tournament … or lose to anyone in the tourney. Certainly including Texas Tech. One game at a time.
Gotta defend the perimeter, rebound, make your FTs and protect the ball or the Bonnies will move on, same recipe for every game, it’s not complicated.
I taste Gator bites!!! GO BONAS!!!
White needs to learn how to play against a Zone and how to make adjustments in the second half. If you can’t, he should be shown the door out of Gainesville.
