Florida freshman forward Chase Johnson has been cleared for individual drills and weight lifting but has yet to be cleared for practice while dealing with an undisclosed illness.
The 6-foot-9, 205-pound Johnson was unavailable for all three of UF’s games last week and hasn’t appeared in a game since Nov. 23 against Stanford. In four games this season, Johnson is averaging 4.3 points and 2.0 rebounds.
Johnson was coming off a promising summer, but the Ripey, W. Va., native’s development was slowed when he missed the final two weeks of preseason practices due to a concussion.
Florida could choose to redshirt Johnson if the lengthy illness persists. Per NCAA basketball rules, a player can obtain a medical redshirt if he/she plays in less than 30 percent of competition (9 games), with none of the games occurring past the midway point of the season.
An undisclosed illness? Redshirt? That doesn’t sound good.
Kevin – Most Memphians like other BBQ establishments better. However, celebrities are entertained at The Rendezvous when they are in town probably because of it’s fame and convenience from Beale Street and downtown.
