Florida junior guard Jalen Hudson was named SEC men’s basketball player of the week on Monday.
Hudson averaged 25.3 points in three games at the PK80 Tournament in Portland, Ore. The 6-foot-6 Virginia Tech transfer scored a career-high 35 points in UF’s 111-105 double overtime win over Gonzaga and posted his first career double-double (24 points, 10 rebounds) in UF’s 87-84 loss to Duke in the tournament finals Sunday. Hudson shot 53 percent from the field (26-49) and 56 percent from 3-point range (14-25) in the three games.
Hudson is the second Florida player to earn SEC player of the week honors in as many weeks. Last week, Florida grad transfer forward Egor Koulechov earned the honor.
NOTHING SHORT OF AWESOME – KEEP UP THE GOOD HARD WORK!!!
Congrats Jalen & our Gators on a good start to the season. Several tough out of conference games upcoming prior to the improved SEC. Cincy, FSU & Clemson are all off to good starts as well. Great job Jalen on the double double. Go Gators!
