Florida senior forward Egor Koulechov was named SEC player of the week for his performances in UF’s first three games against Gardner-Webb, UNF and New Hampshire.

The 6-foot-5, 208-pound grad transfer from Rice averaged 20.3 points, 8.3 rebounds and 3.7 assists in helping lead the No. 7 Gators (3-0) to three straight wins.

Koulechov posted a pair of double-doubles against UNF (13 points, 10 rebounds) and New Hampshire (14 points, 10 rebounds) while shooting 45 percent from 3-point range and 92.3 percent (12-13) from the foul line.

In UF’s 70-63 win over New Hampshire on Sunday night, Koulechov came up with a big offensive rebound and putback in the closing minutes to put the Gators up 60-55.

“Just chasing the ball, trying to get to every play,” Koulechov said. “If you go in and you try to get every offensive rebound you’re not going to get every ball, some will bounce your way and some you have to go get them. That’s what I try to do for my team.”
