Florida senior center John Egbunu was named as one of 20 players to the Kareem Abdul-Jabar list on Friday, an award given to college basketball’s top center.
Egbunu averaged 7.8 points and a team-high 6.6 rebounds last season before his season was cut shot when he tore his ACL on Feb. 14 against Auburn. The 6-foot-11, 265-pound center is still recovering from knee surgery but is on track for a January return.
The Gators, ranked seventh in the country in the USA Today coaches poll, open their season Nov. 13 at home against Gardner-Webb (7:30 p.m., ESPNU).
