Florida junior guard KeVaughn Allen was one of 20 players named the Jerry West Award Watch list on Tuesday.
The award, named after the former West Virginia and Los Angeles Lakers standout, is given to the best college basketball shooting guard in the country. The 6-foot-2, 193-pound Allen led the Gators in scoring last season (14 ppg) while shooting 37 percent from 3-point range. Allen scored a career-high 35 points in UF’s 84-83 overtime win over Wisconsin in the Sweet 16.
A two-year starter, Allen could see more time at the point this season backing up Chris Chiozza. At 923 career points, Allen is 77 points shy of becoming the 51st 1,000 point scorer in school history.
