Nothing like being swept at Ole Miss to knock a college baseball team out of the Top 25 rankings.
After a 1-3 week, Florida dropped out of the D1Baseball and USA Today Coaches polls. Florida had been ranked in 76 straight polls, the longest active streak in the country. The last time the Gators were not ranked was March 24, 2014.
The Gators (21-13) will play Florida State (19-12) starting at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Dick Howser Stadium in Tallahassee. Florida has won 10 in a row against FSU and 15 of the last 16. Coach Kevin O’Sullivan is 28-16 against the Seminoles. UF is on a program-best 10-game win streak over FSU dating back to 2016. During those 10 games, the Gators have shut out the Seminoles four times and outscored FSU 70-26.
UF is 2-0 against Florida State this season, with a 20-7 win March 12 in Gainesville and 4-2 in Jacksonville on March 26.
D1Baseball editors Aaron Fitt and Kendall Rogers determine the Top 25 rankings. Records are through games of April 7.
