Rough SEC weekends have plagued the young Florida baseball team to start the league season, and, as a result, the Gators have been dropping in the weekly rankings.
After a 1-2 series vs. Mississippi State in Gainesville, UF dropped from No. 5 to No. 14 last week.
Then, after being swept at Vanderbilt, the Gators dropped to No. 23 on Monday.
Florida (16-10) looks to regroup against No. 20 Florida State (17-6) at 6 p.m. Tuesday in Jacksonville in the second Fresh from Florida Sunshine Showdown of the season. The game will air on the Gators Sports Network and SEC Network+. UF routed FSU 20-7 on March 12 in Gainesville. The series finale in Tallahassee is scheduled for April 9.
The Gators return to McKethan Stadium for a series against Alabama starting at 6:30 p.m. Friday, with games at 6:30 p.m. Saturday and 1 p.m. Sunday.
D1Baseball editors Aaron Fitt and Kendall Rogers determine the Top 25 rankings. Records are through games of March 24.

It is strange to see so many SEC teams rated about the gators.
Sully will get them playing serious ball soon. It’s how you finish in this game. Just get to the postseason dance, playing great..
He doesnt have the arms this year just average pitchers. It will be a down year for us. Happens!
Who will follow michigan to drop out = UF
This team has essentially lived on their excellent pitching and defense for years to produce their championship teams, especially their CWS title a couple years ago, with an occasional outburst of offense from time to time. Unfortunately, both these areas have been very poor so far this season, and there is not a strong and consistent enough offense to bail them out. The 20 runs that they hung on FSU a couple weeks ago owed a great deal to the Semis having a 3 inning melt down in their defense and their brain power. I’ll bet this team will continue to drive Sully crazy with it being so young, but at this point, any ranking inside the top 25 is more about the Gator’s past rep than true strength right now. They may turn it around a bit but if they do make the playoff field, they probably won’t be a high seed and hosting a Regional. Will be a learning year for this group, and hopefully Sully has dug up a couple of stud hitters coming in for next season.
Nothing like playing Florida State to get the baseball team back on track!
