Florida defensive end Jon Greenard was named SEC defensive lineman of the week, the league announced Monday. He won the defensive player of the week last week.

  • Greenard posted a team-high six tackles, including five tackles for a loss of 23 yards, and two sacks for a loss of 12 yards in Saturday’s win over the Tigers to conclude the SEC slate.
  • Greenard’s five tackles for loss marked the most by a Gator in a game since 2000.
  • He also added one quarterback hurry in the victory, as he led a Gators’ defensive unit that held Missouri to just 256 total yards of offense.
  • Additionally, the Gators’ defense has held opposing teams from the end zone for two consecutive games now.

  1. Best recruit of 2019. Only wish we had hm for 2 or 3 more years. May be the best player on the team. When it comes to attitude, I definitely think he is among an elite few on the team. I love this guy’s effort. I feel bad for JZ to have had to miss so many games this year. I think a 100% healthy JG & JZ could have possibly made a difference in a couple of key games this year. Hope the development of replacements goes well or we are really goons miss these guys.

  2. I agree on the big games too, may not have won but there would have been a lot more pressure on Jake and Joe. Especially Jake he sat back there awhile the whole game pretty much. Joe was throwing early so I would guess it would not have made as much of a difference. Although if Trask on the INT in the redzone would have choose not to throw that pass he could have fell forward and picked up the 3rd and one, but really he could have gained at least 3 there was no one within 5 yards of him.
