OFFENSE B-

First half: There were some good things, but the lack of a running game allowed Missouri to rush Kyke Trask and sack him four times. Three of those sacks killed drives, but Trask did throw for 147 yards.

Second half: There is no question Florida got some breaks in instant replay (it was overdue), but the offense did exactly what it had to do. Get a couple into the end zone, run some clock and make it a three-possession game.

For the game: The Gators cleaned up the sacks in the second half and made the big plays to get the win. These 300-yard passing games are becoming pretty common now. Florida rushed for more than 100 yards, but 46 yards in losses ate away almost half of those yards.

DEFENSE A

First half: The Gators did a good job against the run by holding Missouri to 2.1 yards a carry. The Gators had three three-and-outs out of six Mizzou possessions in the first half and only allowed two plays of 10 yards or more.

Second half: Kelly Bryant was an elusive target, but the Gators contained him for the most part and limited him to under 100 yards passing in the second half.

For the game: People complained after I didn’t give Florida an “A” after a shutout last weekend. So this will make up for it. Missouri has been a great offense at home, but UF didn’t allow the Tigers but a couple of big plays.

SPECIAL TEAMS B-

First half: Tommy Townsend had a strong half, averaging 48.4 yards a punt and dropping four of five inside the 20. Evan McPherson made a pair of field goals from 47 and 39 yards.

Second half: Townsend’s 29-yard flubbed punt set Missouri up for a field goal attempt in the third quarter. McPherson made another field goal that virtually iced the win.

For the game: A lot of credit goes to McPherson, who was 3-for-3 in a game where field goals mattered. Not much of a return game again, but sometimes just catching punts is a win in field position.

OVERALL B+

Florida came to a place where it has a bad history and took care of business. It wasn’t always pretty like some of their other wins, but they took care of the team a lot of people thought would pass them this year in the East. Nope.
