Moon named SEC’s Defensive Lineman of Week

Florida end Jeremiah Moon was named the SEC’s Defensive Lineman of the Week, the league announced Monday.

Moon made five tackles in Saturday’s win over Towson, including 0.5 sacks for a loss of four yards.

Moon was one of eight Gators on Saturday to record 0.5 sacks. Saturday’s performance vaulted him to third on the team in tackles, behind Jonathan Greenard and David Reese II, with 19 overall.

UF’s defense notched its second shutout of the season for the first time since 2012. Florida leads the SEC in sacks with 24 overall, while tied for second among the rest of the FBS.
