Update: Rivals’ Blake Alderman is reporting Lemons never de-committed to the staff and is in fact still committed to the Gators. He later reported Lemons talked to Gators coach Jim McElwain and re-affirmed his commitment.

Alderman said he believes Lemons will clarify his status in the near future. The original story is below.

Florida suffered a hit to its 2017 class Monday evening when four-star Clearwater running back Adarius Lemons announced he was de-committing from the Gators.

Heading into his senior season, the 6-foot-1, 195-pound Lemons has committed and later de-committed from two programs since March: UF and the University of North Carolina.

Lemons flipped to the Gators in July after making the trip to Gainesville for Friday Night Lights, the largest annual recruiting showcase hosted by Florida.

His grandma is reportedly a huge fan of the Gators and her ability to see her grandson compete played a hand in his initial commitment to the Gators.

We’ll see if offensive coordinator Doug Nussmeier and running backs coach Tim Skipper can re-convince Lemons to join the Gators in 2017.
