The Gators lost out on a highly coveted in-state prospect Monday.
Three-star offensive tackle Marcus Tatum out of Mainland in Daytona Beach had recently narrowed his commitment list down to four teams – Alabama, Florida, Miami and Tennessee.
On Monday, he posted a note on his Twitter of his commitment to compete in the SEC and play for the Volunteers.

Although Tatum will sign with Tennessee barring a change of heart, the Gators remain in the running to sign a pair of talented tackles.
When the dead period closes Thursday, UF will welcome a pair of four-star offensive linemen in John Simpson and Landon Dickerson to campus this weekend.
Simpson has interest from Alabama and LSU, and the 6-foot-4, 290-pounder out of Fort Dorchester in North Charleston, S.C., will visit the Crimson Tide the weekend before National Signing Day on Feb. 3.
Dickerson has offers from the Gators and Alabama, and he’ll visit Tuscaloosa on Jan. 22 following his official visit to Florida.
UF’s 26 commitments includes three-star lineman Brett Heggie out of Mount Dora, three-star tackle Jawaan Taylor from Cocoa and midyear enrollee Stone Forsythe out West Orange in Winter Garden.
