My name is Graham Hall, and I was born and raised right here in Gainesville. You may know of me from around town, or have read my work elsewhere.
I’m taking over the recruiting blog from Zach Abolverdi, who recently accepted a job with SECCountry.com to keep him covering the Gators for the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
Over the last five years I’ve seen Zach excel at what he loves, and I couldn’t be more proud of him. It’s a job he’s passionate about, and I’m eager to maintain his level of dedication every single day.
After attending Gainesville High School, UF became the next step in receiving the best education possible. I honestly had no idea I wanted to get into journalism, let alone attempt to cover UF athletics.
But after much thought and a little meandering into other endeavors, I found myself doing what I love – covering the Gators for The Alligator.
The last two years there have given me the confidence to attack whatever I attempt, and that has led me to my next challenge: covering UF football recruiting as a correspondent for The Gainesville Sun.
I’ve always been an avid follower of recruiting, especially when it involved the Gators. I would learn about the top prospects and when they’d visit universities that I could only dream of attending. At the age of 5, I would read the Gainesville Sun every morning and call my friends to inform them of news I thought they should care about. It’s surreal to think that now there are kids out there who could soon be doing the same, but this time it could be my work they’re sharing.
This is an important time for Florida’s recruiting process. We are in the midst of witnessing the addition of multiple midyear enrollees who have a chance to make an impact on UF’s program from Day 1. While it’s currently the dead period, with social network and the Internet, there’s no excuse for not providing the most thorough and accurate information possible.
I’ll do anything to get you the information first, but I care more about being correct in what I say. I’m hoping this blog and the recruiting forum help create a healthy discussion, and I implore you to send your comments, questions, thoughts and opinions to me. You can find me on Twitter, add me on Facebook or drop me a note in my email at email@example.com.
I hope this is the start of something wonderful for all of us.
