Rivals.com final rankings

Rivals.com’s Rivals100 and the 250 have come out. There are some differences from yesterday’s Scout300. Florida had three of its commitments — QB Jeff Driskel (32), RB Mike Blakely (40) and TE A.C. Leonard (57) — ranked in the top 100.

Florida came away with six commitments making the top 250. The Gators had seven ranked in Scout’s top 300.

Florida also saw one of its targets in Palm Beach Gardens defensive end Curt Maggitt make it into the Rivals250, coming in at No. 198.

Oh, and Driskel is still rated as the nation’s top quarterback, but didn’t get that elusive fifth star from the Rivals crew. Honestly, there wasn’t anything from his all-star week that was going to change their minds on that one. Besides, does a five-star Driskel mean more to Florida than a four-star one?

Here’s how the Rivals250 turned out and where Florida’s commits and recruits rank:

7. Ha’Sean Clinton-Dix (Alabama commit), S, Orlando Dr. Phillips
13. Tony Steward, LB, St. Augustine Pedro Menendez

  1. Give me an unselfish kid with a heart and talent and I guarantee that this maybe lower star recruit will be a team player and make the Gators proud. We have the coaches to bring out the very best in all of our players. Again look at what makes the kid who he is NOT just his stats and numbers.

  2. Fester…You must be proud that your squad sends more players to the NFL than any other SEC school, but cannot manage to win jack. If recruits don’t care about winning, just the next level, you can have them…we like winners in Gainesville. Go Gators!

  3. CORRECTION: Tennessee SENT more players to the NFL than any other SEC school. Currently sending more that Tennessee are: Florida, LSU, BAMA, and Georgia.

I understand they’re a little behind the times up in Vol land.

  4. Chris Leak was an unselfish kid who was a team player. If you look at the junior and seniors who were “star” players in high school who didn’t pan out, and look at why, it’ll probably be because they expected that high school star status to instantly transfer to getting anything they want in college.
I guess that that’s kind of hard for some of them to get when you have the head coach of a major university sitting in your living room and almost begging you and your family to play for them. For a kid to be really coachable in college they need to want6 to be a team player and not depend on their high school stats to float them through college. The more stars the better but look at some of the Gators’ walkons. Nobody wanted 6th string, unpolishsed. former walkon Kerwin Bell but he did pretty well. even with his lack of “star” power.

  5. I also hope that former high school 5 star quarterback John Brantley will show what he can really do in a style of offense that better suits his skills. He has up” a player and I hope Brantley earns the right to start. We should have a good idea of if this will happen in spring ball. Also Driscol and the other quarterbacks we have on the roster need an equal chance to prove they could start. Can’t wait for the 2011 season. Go Gators!

  6. Ed,
Is Weis talking to Westerman? That would be a heck of a steel from Texas. My list. Grant, Fisher, Brissett, Rasco, Simmons, Pomee, Watkins, Chickallo, Maggitt, and if available Dix. Steward, Jernigan and Anthony if nothing else.

  7. Here’s what um not understanding is y is Clemson yr. after yr. keep stealing top recruits from us do they not know the chances of them making it 2 the league here is a plus even if u have subpar career look at Carl Johnson & Will Hill both will get drafted,& o don’t let me forget we win (CHAMPIONSHIPSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!).Could some1 explain 2 me what is about CLEMSON that make these top recruits keep going there?

  8. Chris Leak was/is a top 5 Gator of all time. Him holding that trophy up after the beat down of OSU was the most fitting image in recent Sports. Prime in that it couldn’t have heepened to a more deserving individual, and team!
