Urban Meyer always says he wants to have the fastest, most athletic team in the country and his recent recruiting haul just screams that. Florida has some tremendous talent coming at every position in its 2010 class, but one commit just made things even more fun for Florida’s coaches.

Cornerback signee Cody Riggs (St. Thomas Aquinas) tried his best to get on Jeff Demps’ level by becoming one of the fastest high schoolers in the country when he posted an impressive 36.51 in the 300m hurdles. The next closest was Sir Paul Jones, who should get some time knocked off for name alone, with a time of 36.60.

Riggs also posted times of 14.03 and 14.20 in the 110m hurdles. His second time ranks him 16th in the nation.

Riggs, whom Rivals.com rated as the No. 11 cornerback in the country, had 30 tackles, four interceptions, four blocked field goals and one blocked punt as a senior. He’ll be on Florida’s campus this summer with the chance to compete for some playing time. With his speed and athleticism, he stands to have a great chance at making it on special teams. Look for him to be one of Meyer’s heralded gunners this fall.
