UF has posted its men’s basketball roster for the 2008-09 season.

For those of you curious about uniform numbers of the five incoming freshmen,
Eloy Vargas will wear No. 1, Ray Shipman No. 3, Erving Walker No. 11, Allan
Chaney No. 24 and Kenny Kadji No. 30.

Transfer Vernon Macklin will wear No. 32 but is sitting out this
season because he came over from Georgetown,
another NCAA Division I school.

Walk-ons Michael Weisenberg and Shane Payne are no longer with the team. It’s
unclear at this point whether Payne, who actually performed OK in spot duty in
meaningful games last season, will remain enrolled at UF or will look to try to
play at another school.

Florida adds a new walk on, Kyle McClanahan, a
freshman guard from Winter Park
High School. McClanahan
(6-foot-1, 185 pounds), who will wear No. 4, averaged 20 points per game last
season, helping lead Winter Park to a 28-2 record. McClanahan turned down a
scholarship offer from Division I San Francisco to play at UF as a walk-on.

All five incoming freshmen are on campus in summer school and are expected
to enroll for the fall semester Monday without incident. This will give Florida 12 eligible
scholarship players for the upcoming season, which should make practices more
competitive and give coach Billy Donovan more options off the bench.
