The Arch that serves as the Gateway to the West is 63 stories high and made of 17,246 tons of stainless steel and concrete.

There is a tram you can take to the top of the arch as part of an hour-long tour. Thought about it, but worried if somehow the tram got stuck I would miss covering tonight’s game.

Below the arch is a museum commemorating westward expansion, which celebrated the unique ways settlers swindled Native Americans out of millions of acres of their land.

The new Busch Stadium was closed for tours because of some finishing touches in construction. A sign already has been erected above the scoreboard in right field, commemorating the Cardinals’ 2006 World Series Championship.

Inside the stadium gift shop, you can buy bobble head dolls of your favorite Cardinal (including former Gator David Eckstein) holding up the World Series trophy for $28.50.

Bumped into former St. John’s/George Washington coach Mike Jarvis at breakfast. Jarvis, who lives in Boca Raton, is doing podcasts and writing analysis pieces at the Sweet 16 for Yahoo!.com sports.
