Multi-tasking in Atlanta

You look forward to this tournament for weeks and then you find yourself missing out on some of the biggest plays. Such is life in the multi-tasking world of sports journalism.

On Thursday, 10 minutes into Kentucky-Alabama, I get a call on my cell from Cris Collinsworth, who I’ve been trying to track down for about four months. I had to take the call so I missed the Kentucky run that allowed the Wildcats to win the game.

During the South-Carolina-Arkansas game, Andrew DeClercq called me back for the story I was doing about his honor. Had to take it.

On Friday, as the seconds were winding down on one of the best games I’ve ever seen in this tournament ” Mississippi State’s overtime win over Kentucky ” I had to leave press row because I told an Atlanta radio station I’d do the show at 3:30 p.m. and I had a video blog to do for The Sun.

But I did see Jamont Gordon’s unbelievable 3-pointer to tie it ” plus all of the overtime ” from the football press box in the Georgia Dome.

Believe me, I’m not complaining. I wish you could all be here enjoying this.
