Sometimes, it’s better to be heard than seen.
In Friday’s open Florida practice, the loudest of the Gator faithful bellowed chants that echoed throughout the Georgia Dome. Kind of like Randy Quaid in the movie Major League.
“What does UCLA stand for?” he yelled. “University of California Loses Again. Go Gators.”
Upon further investigation, the fan was none other than John Martin, the former Hawthorne mayor who currently serves as a city commissioner in the city. Martin drove up Friday morning in time for the practice and has tickets to the semifinal and final games.
If Florida advances, Martin will miss Monday’s city commission meeting.
“I’m casting my vote for the Gators,” he said.
