Martha Sanders is a 66-year-old retiree who was having a hard time paying the $500 or more a month for her prescription drugs. Sanders found help in SHINE, Serving Health Insurance Needs of Elders, and now counsels seniors about programs to cut the cost of medications. For example, Sanders' prescription for Lipitor was about $88 for a 30-day supply. She now pays $15 through a Pfizer program.
