Larry Savage is the assistant sports editor for high school and community sports. He has been at The Sun since January 2007, previously working on the sports desk. Prior to coming to the Sun he worked about two years in the sports department at the Orlando Sentinel, and prior to that about 18 years at the Ocala Star-Banner. While at the Star-Banner, Savage covered high school sports and the Gators for three years during Steve Spurrier’s coaching era. Greatest high school player he’s ever seen – easy, Daunte Culpepper at Vanguard High. A native Floridian (how many people can say that), Larry is blessed with a beautiful wife and four great kids, two from a previous marriage. He graduated from UF in 1984, and Leesburg High School in 1980.
