I agree that relationship building takes time, but for once, we caught a break w3ith in-state rival FSU losing a legendary coach. That, plus the other departures should have allowed us to take advantage of a momentum swing and grab some early recruits that were “possible’s” at those schools. Instead, we have lost out. Now, to be real, I don’t think we need a QB like Corral. I think we have the talent currently here for Coach to win. They just need to learn the system and execute. Many don’t agree, but the problem is not talent, it’s development. Franks, Trask, Allen…. Those guys are all capable. The pain comes from not having a “headline” prospect to attract other talent. oh, and losing a recruit to a school that wont even be eligible to play in the postseason next year. That, gentlemen, is a firm kick in the nuts. Maybe the kid just needs his little Cali balls fondled along with his ego, which FLA’s new coach wouldn’t do. Who knows. My point is that we need a victory soon on the recruiting trail or we wont even have a top 25 class at the end.
Oh, and thank you for the update on Pat… Hope he gets better soon. My point was that the content related to the recruitment and football has been very lacking. Take a look at SECCOUNTRY for an example of what they are putting out on the Gators next to the content being released by Gatorsports.

You hit the nail on the head. What he was able to do in the SEC west, at MSU, should have been more then enough to validate this being a GREAT hire. When this “search” started, my top 3 list was:
1. Mullen (we got him!)
3. Patterson (unlikely)
Why people ask? Because they all won at places where winning was not the norm before their arrival. Also, they recruited VERY WELL at those schools.

I’m so sick of seeing all of the hate for this hire. WAKE UP GATORNATION! Mullen was the perfect hire! Why you ask?
1. HE WON HERE
2. HE WON AT MS STATE
3. HE DEVELOPS PLAYERS
4. HE HAS SUCCEEEDED IN THE SEC AT A GARBAGE PROGRAM
5. HE CAN RECRUIT TALENT, AND RECRUITS WANT TO PLAY FOR HIM
For crying out loud… I’m amazed any coach would want to come back here with the kind of retard fans we have. Coach Mullen was not only a safe bet, but the one and only bet that should have been on the table from the start. Sure, Kelly is a splash hire… Frost would have been as well. But neither of them won in the SEC, and the latter (FROST) prob wouldn’t have stuck around if he did win for long.
We have a chance to collectively get behind our new HBC and show him that GATORNATION is really great. We def have to change our image, and change it fast. Remember, happy wife = happy life, and if Mrs Mullen starts to feel like she did while she was here before, we’ll be starting another coaching search really soon. Bottom line is that Mullen is a proven winner. Both here at UF and at MSU (btw, nobody wins at that dump). Open your eyes and be grateful that he CHOSE TO ACCEPT THIS JOB! GO GATORS!

Well, he make the most sense logically… But we know how well our university deals with logic. My guess is they will make a run at Stoops, get turned down and as a result, Frost will see that slight and sign with Tenn, Aub, or another school that has an AD without his head up his arse. We need to look at who is “available” and not who we would like. Yes, it would be great to have Stoops. But, from all signs, he’s done with coaching (at least for a while). Frost is young, energetic, and know the recruiting in Florida. He may be able to save the current class as well. Hire him, groom him, and GIVE HIM A CHANCE FLORIDA FANS.

Once again, all of these misteps will make it very hard to find a good coach. Who would dare believe anything these morons in charge say now? I swear, the fools that run the athletics now are worse then at any other time in the last 40 years. Stricklin = retard. End of story. How you handle things speaks volumes… This dud needs to go as well

Yep, i feel a storm brewing in G’ville. Unfortunately, a darker storm may be on the horizon afterwards. Finding a HC to replace him, and deal with “our” fanbase may prove hard. Plus, who out there is good enough or would leave their current situation for a school that once was, but is a long ways from being great again? Thats the big question…

So… I’ve been reading this forum for years… From all over the world while being in the military. Funny that after this debacle of a showing it was the first time i was compelled to write in the forum. So, some questions to ask fellow Gators:
1. If, and it’s a BIG IF at this point, the Administration decides to find a way out of the buyout, and start yet another search, what (and more important who) do we target? At this state, other then trying to lure maybe Gundy, nobody jumps out as a big name that may see UF as a better school then where they are already. Strong? Gruden? Sound off if you have any idea’s..
2. What coaches that are interested will be apprehensive after seeing what was done to Mac if they do axe him? 3 years and a boot is bound to speak loud to potential new hires. I know we live in a :what have you done for me lately” world, but there will be a 2nd and 3rd order effect by firing Mac. I’m not saying it isnt time, but it has to be discussed.
3. We all know the same argument… No offense since the Tebow days. This has to change, but are we prepared for a true rebuilding project? That really may happen with the next coaching change. We are bound to lose a very good recruiting class, and we’ll prob watch a few of our good player depart for other schools.
Again, I’m tired of seeing the same crap product being put out on the field year after year, but I would warn others that the fix may be a painful one. Were not that attractive anymore. Maybe it’s time to put SOS in charge of the rebuild. Let him do the next hire. Just my 2 cents
