Two veteran Florida players — tailback Mark Thompson and defensive tackle Taven Bryan — appear on the brink of having breakout springs.
“I’ve been really happy with Mark Thompson, the way he’s going. Not to say that Jordan (Scarlett) and Lamical (Perine) aren’t,” coach Jim McElwain said. “Those guys are doing really good, but I think he’s taken some maturity steps.
“Up front, Taven Bryan, he has been our most consistent player, day-to-day in all drills, which is something he kind of lacked, consistency. He has probably taken as big of steps of anybody on the team as far as consistency and performance. It doesn’t matter the drill.
“He did some flash things before, but he and Khairi Clark have done a really good job inside. That’s huge for us.”
