Santa Fe College seeks team for 'West Side Story'

Santa Fe College’s Fine Arts Department is seeking singers, actors, dancers and musicians for its production of “West Side Story,” which will premiere in the spring.

The Broadway classic will be the college’s first musical. Performance dates are March 18-21.

Auditions will be held Sept. 10-13 in the Fine Arts Hall theater, 3000 NW 83rd St.

Cast members must be able to enroll in a production course and attend rehearsals during the college’s spring break, March 2-6.

Audition dates and times are:

Sept. 10: Women only, 2 p.m.

Sept. 11: Men only, 2 p.m.

Sept. 12: Women and men callbacks, 2 p.m.

Sept. 13: All cast members will gather at 10 a.m. to meet the director and begin rehearsals.

Potential cast members should come prepared to read from the script and sing 16 bars of a traditional Broadway musical selection. There will be an accompanist.

The audition will also include a 32-bar dance routine. Jazz shoes and appropriate dance attire is required.

“West Side Story” will be directed by Broadway actor Evan Pappas, with musical direction by Evans Haile.
