A Gainesville woman was arrested early Sunday morning after police said she kicked her boyfriend's mother in the head.

Juliann Griffis, 43, began to argue with her boyfriend's mother about Griffis having an intimate relationship with someone else in her apartment complex at 3600 SW 20th Ave., the Gainesville Police report said.

When the mother called her son in the midst of the argument, Griffis kicked the mother in the side of her face, police said.

The mother told Griffis she was going to call police and Griffis grabbed the phone from her hand and left the apartment. The phone, which was never recovered, was valued at $40, the report said.

The boyfriend later told police that he had heard an altercation take place while he was on the phone with his mother. Griffis denied ever touching the mother, police said.

Griffis will face charges of robbery, theft, simple battery and tampering with victim's witness. She was booked in the Alachua County jail with a $8,000 bond.
