40 … Number of bowl appearances by the Gators.

When Florida went 4-8 last year, one of the casualties was Florida's active bowl streak. The Gators had been to a bowl game for 22 straight years prior to 2013. It was the second longest streak in the nation.

Florida didn't go to its first bowl game until Jan. 1, 1953 when UF won the Gator Bowl over Tulsa. The Gators have played in seven BCS bowl games, going 5-2 in those games.

In all bowl games, Florida is an even 20-20.

UF's longest bowl winning streak came from 2009 to 2012 when the Gators won four straight bowl games. The first was the BCS National Championship Game win over Oklahoma.

The longest bowl losing streak came during the Ron Zook Era. Florida lost three in a row, the first two with Zook as coach and the third after Zook had been relieved of his duties and Charlie Strong was the coach.

Appropriately, Florida has played the most bowl games in the Gator Bowl — nine times. But the Gators have played in it only once since 1992.
