A Lake City man faces up to 10 years in prison after pleading guilty in federal court Thursday to possessing child pornography.
Ronald Charles Waters, 65, has been in the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service since his arrest in November 2013, according to a news release from the United States Attorney's Office for the Middle District of Florida.
Waters was arrested after agents with the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement's Homeland Security Investigations team determined that several individuals had received an email containing images of child pornography from Waters.
When officials interviewed Waters at his home, he consented to a search of his computer, and agents found three images of child pornography in a deleted space. Later, officials executed a federal search warrant at his home and found at least two videos and 16 images depicting minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct, the release said.
The case was also investigated by the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office and the Lake City Police Department, and was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney D. Rodney Brown. Waters also faces a potential life term of supervision, according to the release.
