A man in an electric wheelchair was hit by a vehicle on Newberry Road near 143rd Street, authorities said Wednesday.

Alachua County sheriff's spokesman Art Forgey said the man, who appeared to be elderly, was hit by a vehicle around 1:28 p.m. ASO responded to the scene and EMS rescuers transported him, Forgey said.
