A 54-year-old woman who was struck and killed while walking along U.S. 19 on July 3 has been identified by the Florida Highway Patrol as Lena M. Knight.

The woman was walking north along the highway about 2.8 miles south of Cross City at around 10:47 a.m. when she was struck by the right- side rearview mirror of a Ford F-250 truck, the FHP reported.

The truck was driven by Luis Andres Roca Jr., 30, of Perry, Florida.

Knight was taken by Dixie County EMS to a nearby emergency helicopter landing zone where she was pronounced deceased.

The FHP released the woman's name on Sunday after next of kin were located and notified. The FHP report did not list the woman's hometown.
