A 53-year-old McAlpin man was critically injured Friday afternoon when he lost control of the pickup he was driving in Suwannee County and hit a power pole, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
FHP said Ronald Lee Johnson was the lone occupant of a 2001 Mazda pickup that was heading north on 129th Road near the intersection of 158th Terrace around 2:15 p.m. Friday when for some reason Johnson ran off the road, then overcorrected, causing the pickup to rotate counter-clockwise and hit a power pole.
Johnson was airlifted to UF Health Shands Hospital in critical condition, troopers said.
