No. 20 Marquez North
Position: Wide receiver
Weight: 221 pounds
Why he’s No. 20: There are reasons to believe that North is the next breakout receiver in the SEC. He has the size and certainly the moves and speed to be a nightmare for defensive coordinators.
And now he has a season under his belt.
North showed glimpses of what he could do last year, whether it was SportsCenter-worthy catches or knee-buckling cuts. His numbers figure to only get better as he gets more comfortable as a college football player, but they were good enough to make him a freshman All-American a year ago.
Tennessee is going to need their young players to play old if they are going to become bowl eligible, and North is the most likely candidate.
Last year, he caught 38 passes for 496 yards, averaging 13.1 yards a catch. But he only scored one touchdown and that’s an area where he will have to improve.
Last year, he went over the 100-yard mark for the first time against South Carolina’s stingy secondary. Expect a lot more of those this season.
