Deland is a cute but mostly unremarkable town between Orlando and Daytona Beach. It's home to about 30,000 folks, who for the most part, go about their business in a discreet fashion. They have a charming theater, a dog parade, and Beartoe, who IS remarkable. Beartoe Aguilar has a sophisticated sense of melody that is lacking in the folk world currently, and his songs are just as interesting as his namesake. “Hold On” is a nice relaxing take on a classic progression, reminiscent of a softer Joe Cocker. Not sold yet? Then you don't like music.

Go check him out Friday, along with the always handsome and friendly Mark Archer and Andrew Cook of Nook & Cranny fame, as well as Bradenton's own Kristopher James, at The Bull, starting at 8 p.m.
