Two people were injured Monday in Lake City when a pickup truck hit a car then overturned, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

A 2013 Nissan Maxima being driven by Ralph Berkley, 54, of Lake City was headed east in the right lane of U.S. 90 at around noon and a 1988 Toyota pickup driven by Gavin M. Triplett, 19, of Jacksonville was headed in the same direction in the left lane, the FHP said.

As both vehicles entered the intersection of State Road 100, Triplett turned to head south on SR 100, colliding with the Maxima. After hitting the car, the pickup overturned onto the the west shoulder of SR 100, the report said.

Neither Triplett nor passenger Victor Barone, 19, of Jacksonville were injured. Berkley and passenger Tracy L. Mitchell, 49, of Lake City were taken to UF Health Shands at Lake Shore with minor injuries.

Triplett was cited for an improper lane change, the report said.
