A Tennessee woman was in serious conditions Sunday afternoon after the SUV she was driving blew a tire and flipped several times in Suwannee County.

Migdalia Rodriguez, 34, of Pikeville, Tennessee, was taken to UF Health Shands hospital after the accident, which happened near Wellborn on Interstate 10 just west of County Road 137, a Florida Highway Patrol report said. Passenger Luis Valdez, 7, also of Pikeville, was taken to Shands Lake Shore Regional Medical Center with minor injuries.

Rodriguez was driving a 2003 Chevrolet Tahoe west at 1:52 p.m. in the outside lane when her vehicle's left-rear tire experienced a tire tread separation, causing the vehicle to travel off the road onto the northernmost grassy shoulder, the FHP report said.

Rodriguez steered back to the left trying to re-enter the westbound travel lane, but the SUV rotated counter-clockwise and flipped several times before finally resting on its roof facing southeast, the report said.

Officials said Rodriguez and Valdez were both wearing their seatbelts.
