Redshirt sophomore righty Andrew Rohrbach pitched 8.1 strong innings Friday, lifting second-seeded Long Beach State (33-24) to a 6-1 win over North Carolina in the NCAA baseball Gainesville Regional at McKethan Stadium.

The Dirtbags scored all six of their runs in the fourth inning on five hits, a walk and three stolen bases. Second baseman Colton Vaughn delivered the big blow, a two-RBI double that extended Long Beach State's lead to 6-0 lead. Rohrbach took care of the rest, taking a shutout into the ninth inning.

North Carolina (34-26) scored its lone run in the ninth on an RBI single by third baseman Landon Lassiter.

Long Beach State will play the winner of tonight's Florida-College of Charleston game in a winner's bracket contest at 7 p.m. Saturday. UNC will play the loser at 1 p.m. Saturday.
