ATHENS, Ga. — After three wins in three days, Florida senior Florent Diep dropped his NCAA singles quarterfinal match 6-2, 6-2 to Harvard’s No. 39-ranked Denis Nguyen on Saturday at Dan Magill Tennis Complex.

“It was a good way to finish my college career,” Diep said. “I felt good on the court and I fought in all of my matches and most importantly, I had fun.”

Diep, who was ranked 51st in the nation, led the Gators with 31 singles wins in his final season and had 14 victories over ITA-ranked opponents.

“We’re certainly proud of him, but we’ve been proud all year long,” UF coach Bryan Shelton said. “He’s the guy that does the right things the right way. I’m glad he could work so hard and finish it this way, with so much success at the end.”

The ITA Southeast Senior Player of the Year, Diep was an All-American and also was named first-team All-SEC as well as to the league’s All-Tournament team.
