The Boys & Girls Club of Alachua County Inc. is thrilled to present the inaugural BGC Bowl: Clash of the Titans Charity Kickball Tournament at 4 p.m. on June 4 at the Woodland Park unit at 1900 SE 4th St.

This competition is dual in nature.

* 1. Physical: Gainesville Fire Rescue Station No. 1 will be competing against the Gainesville Police Department Special Operations Unit in a game of kickball. Both teams will be aided by the Woodland Park youth and staff. The winner will receive a trophy, along with bragging rights for a year. Next year, the same trophy will be offered to the winning organization.

* 2. Philanthropic: Presently, we are losing our battle with the unmerciful Florida heat. Why? The air-conditioning unit is down and we are currently $7,000 short of being able to repair it. As the summer rapidly approaches, a time in which we will be engaging youth for 10 hours per day, the heat will only become more relentless. Therefore, each team will endeavor to raise money toward meeting this expense. Whoever collects the most donations will receive a plaque.

This should be a HUGE event and we are already running public service announcements on Magic 101.3 FM.

Good luck and we hope to see you on the field.
