The Gainesville Sun is holding a forum on mental health issues facing the community.

"Illness to Wellness: A Community Forum on Mental Health" will be held May 28 from 7:00 to 8:45 pm at the Thelma Boltin Community Center, . It will feature four experts on mental health with different perspectives on what the community is doing well and where it needs to improve in areas such as treatment, the criminal justice system and homelessness.

Panelists include Terrie Mullin, president of the National Alliance on Mental Illness—Gainesville; Judge Denise Ferrero, who presides over mental health court; Dr. Dawn Bruijnzeel, a psychiatrist at the veterans hospital and UF Health; and the Rev. Richard Reedy, the president of the board of the Peer Support Coalition of Florida.

Sun Editorial Page Editor Nathan Crabbe will moderate the discussion. The event is being sponsored by The Sun, NAMI—Gainesville, the city of Gainesville and Alachua County.
