Coach Will Muschamp's father dies at 79

Herbert Larry Muschamp, the father of Florida football coach Will Muschamp, died Thursday night in a in Mentone, Ala., hospital. He was 79. A memorial service was held for Mr. Muschamp on Sunday evening at Cloudland Presbyterian Church in Menlo, Ga. Muschamp's father was a graduate of the University of North Carolina, where he played football and earned his Master's Degree. He also received a Certificate in Education from the University of Georgia. He was born in Rome, Ga., on June 12, 1934. He taught history and was the head football coach at East Rome High School, then became the principal at the middle school in Darlington, Ga. Muschamp moved to Gainesville in the 1980s to become the Headmaster at Oak Hall School before returning to his home state in 1986. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that memorial contributions be sent to the Cloudland Presbyterian Church, P.O.
