UF roundup: Gators end season with sweep of ’Backs

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — Florida completed regular-season play on Sunday with a 5-1 victory to sweep Arkansas. Florida scored four runs in the third inning and one in the sixth, and senior right-hander Hannah Rogers retired the hosts in order in five of the seven innings. Florida won its 21st consecutive game against the Razorbacks overall, and took the 16th consecutive meeting in Fayetteville.
The Gators (45-10, 15-9 SEC) scored the game’s first run in the third when Taylore Fuller beat out a single to shortstop and then came home on an RBI base hit by Stewart. Tofft walked later in the inning to set up a three-run home run by Lauren Haeger, giving Florida a 4-0 lead.
Florida opens SEC Tournament play as the No. 4 seed, and the Gators will face fifth-seeded Georgia at 4 p.m. on Thursday in Columbia, S.C. ESPNU will broadcast the game.
Track and field: The Florida distance trio of freshman Becky Greene, Cory McGee and Agata Strausa delivered with three of the top times in the country in the the 1500m at the Payton Jordan Invitational on Sunday in Stanford, Calif. McGee and Strausa were the top two collegiate finishers in the event. All three clocked season-best marks while Greene put up a PR in section three with her 4:17.36.
