If you've been living in Gainesville for a while, or you know a bit about the Florida punk scene, you'll probably recognize Chuck Ragan's name. For those who don't know who he his, he is half of the songwriting team that brought you one of this town's most important bands, Hot Water Music. But enough about background, let's discuss his newest solo effort, “Till Midnight.” Part Bruce Springsteen (or what he wishes he was now), part contemporary country and part Tom Waits, this album is something special. It's 21st century gunslinger music. It's driving music. It's writing music. It's GOOD music. It's GREAT music. The album's second track, “Vegabond,” has a nice melancholy tone, lyrically and musically, that is so anthemic you'll think you're back in high school getting over your first crush.

Check him and his band, The Camaraderie, out tonight at High Dive, along with special guests Johnny Two Bags, starting at 9 p.m.
