A Starke man died Wednesday night after officials say he was thrown from his motorcycle during a two-vehicle collision in Putnam County.

Elbert Peace, 64, was taken to UF Health Shands Hospital, where he later died from his injuries, according to a Florida Highway Patrol report. His passenger, Christine Peace, 55, is in critical condition at Shands.

Peace was driving his 2004 Harley MC west on State Road 100 near the intersection with State Road 26 on 6:05 p.m. Lon Seibert, 57, of Grandin, was attempting to turn left on State Road 100 in his 1984 Mercedes 4D onto Putnam Loop Road, the report said.

Seibert made a left turn in the direct path of the motorcycle, and the motorcycle’s front end hit the passenger front fender of Seibert’s Mercedes. Elbert Peace and Christine Peace were thrown from the area of collision and came to rest on the pavement west of the intersection, the report said. Elbert Peace was not wearing a helmet, the FHP reported, but it was unclear whether Christine Peace was.

Seibert was not injured, according to the report. The FHP said it is still investigating the crash.
