The Tony Award-nominated play, "The Trip to Bountiful," will make its debut as a movie Saturday night on the Lifetime TV network.
The movie tells the story of Carrie Watts, portrayed by Cecily Tyson, who makes a trip all by herself to her hometown of Bountiful after her son refuses. The movie will air at 8 p.m. on Lifetime, Cox Channel 24. It will air again at midnight and 9 p.m. Sunday and 1 a.m. Monday.
Underwood portrays Watts' son, Ludie, and Williams is his wife, Jessie Mae. The movie also stars Keke Palmer as Thelma, a young lady Carrie Watts befriends on the bus.
