UF roundup: Haeger earns SEC's weekly honors

Florida junior pitcher Lauren Haeger was named SEC softball player of the week Monday.
Haeger set a season high with five RBI in Saturday's win over Ohio State at the weekend tournament in Orlando. She tied her season and career high with two home runs against the Buckeyes, went 7-for-17 (.412) at the plate with three walks, drove in 11 runs and went 1-0, 1.40 (1 ER / 5.0 IP) during the tournament with a five-inning win against OSU.
The Gators (21-0) host Boston College at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Katie Seashole Pressly Softball Stadium.
Men's golf: Improving six strokes as a team on Monday, Florida shot three-under and finished the second round in ninth place (285).
Ryan Orr and J.D. Tomlinson tallied under-par rounds, as Orr fired a 71 for the second consecutive day and Tomlinson shot a 72. Eric Banks, who matched his career-low round score of 68 after making a team-leading six birdies. Banks' performance was his best of season, scoring his last 68 in the 2013 Chris Schenkel Invitational.
Victor Tarnstrom and Richard Donegan carded a 76 and 74, respectively, while redshirt junior Santiago Gavino, who is competing as an individual for the Gators, slid to three-over after scoring a 76.
Baseball: Florida (6-6) plays Southern Miss (6-6) in Pensacola as part of the Cox Diamond Invitational presented by the Pensacola Sports Association at Community Maritime Park on Tuesday night. The teams have not met since the 2009 season, when USM claimed both games in the NCAA Gainesville Super Regional to advance to Omaha for the College World Series.
The game will be shown on Cox Sports (Channel 259 or 1259 HD in Gainesville on Cox Communications) at 7:30 p.m.
Lacrosse: Florida moved up two spots to No. 5 in the IWLCA poll after defeating No. 13 Stony Brook, 14-1, on Saturday. The Gators stayed No. 5 in the Brine media poll for the third straight week.
Among the teams remaining on Florida's schedule, there are five teams present in both the Brine and IWLCA rankings: No. 3/2 Syracuse, No. 4/4 Northwestern, No. 9/9 Penn State, No. 12/12 Loyola and No. 14/17 Johns Hopkins.
UF wraps up its two-game road swing on Tuesday starting at 1 p.m. when it faces No. 7 Loyola.
