A Fort White man was hospitalized with serious injuries Friday in Gilchrist County when he drove his dump truck off the road and lost control, causing the truck to roll onto its side, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Injured was Marshall West, 62, FHP reported in a press release.

West was driving a 2006 Sterling dump truck east on County Road 138 north of Northeast 7th Court about 9:50 a.m. when he drove off the right side of the road.

FHP reported that West overcorrected and traveled across both lanes. He attempted to steer onto the road but the truck rolled onto its left side.

West was flown by helicopter to UF Health Shands Hospital. Charges are pending.
