Gospel concert

Dayspring Baptist Church will host its "Old Time Gospel Singing" concert.

It will be held at 7 p.m. Friday at the church at 1945 NE 8th Ave.

The performers will include the Inspirational Daughters of Joy of Gainesville, the Gospel Echoes of Ocala and others.

Black history

Dayspring Baptist Church will host the Nu Eta Lambda chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc. Black History Month program.

It will be held at 10:30 a.m. Sunday at the church at 1945 NE 8th Ave.

The speaker will be attorney AuBroncee Martin, a member of the fraternity and an assistant public defender in the Eighth Judicial Circuit's Public Defender's Office.

Women's Day

Bethel Seventh-day Adventist Church will celebrate Women's Day.

Services will be held Saturday beginning with Sabbath School at 9:15, Divine Worship at 11 a.m. and a play titled "Unholy War" at 5:30 p.m., at the church at 740 NE 21st St. The theme is "When Life Gives You Lemons." The play was written and directed by Janell Merricks, a teen member at the church.

The speaker at 11 a.m. will be Staci Bertrand, business opportunities manager with Gainesville Area Chamber of Commerce. Gainesville City Commissioner Yvonne Hinson-Rawls, Marty Robinson, Earther Wright and Jancie Vinson will be recognized as community leaders.

Outstanding women leaders at Bethel also will be recognized. Lunch will be served.

Black history

The Victory Temple Ministries Youth Department, Kids In Divine Safety, or K.I.D.S., will celebrate Black History Month.

The service will be held at 6 p.m. Sunday at the church at 908 SE Williston Road.

First Missionary Baptist Church will celebrate its 51st church anniversary.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. Sunday at the church at 1515 SE 15th St. Lunch will be served after the 11 a.m. service.

The speakers will be: 11 a.m., the Rev. Alvin Baker of New Bethel Baptist Church in Lake City, and 4 p.m., the Rev. Adrian Taylor of Springhill Baptist Church in Gainesville.

Food giveaway

Emanuel Baptist Church will host a food giveaway.

It will be held from 10 a.m.-noon every second and fourth Tuesday of the month at the church at 1203 NE 8th Ave.

The 39th Avenue Church of Christ will host its Spring Gospel Meeting.
