Florida senior guard Scottie Wilbekin was named SEC player of the week, the league announced Monday.
Wilbekin, a 6-foot-2, 176-pounder from The Rock in Gainesville, won after averaging 22 points, four assists, three rebounds and 2.5 steals in wins at Tennessee and at 14th-ranked Kentucky. Wilbekin's 21 points against Tennessee on Tuesday were a career-high before he topped it with his 23-point performance at Kentucky on Saturday. He dished eight assists and recorded no turnovers in 71 minutes of action this week. Wilbekin went an impressive 21-of-24 (88 percent) from the charity stripe, including a notable 18-of-20 in the second half. Sixteen of the 22 points he averaged on the week came in the second half.
