Roundup: UF lacrosse beats Jax in home opener

The Florida lacrosse team opened scored a 21-5 victory over in-state foe Jacksonville in its home opener. Fifteen Gators set season or career bests in the program's 20th consecutive win at Donald R. Dizney Stadium.
Jacksonville won the opening draw and scored the first goal, but Florida answered by scoring the next seven goals and never looked back. In total, seven Gators scored in the game, with junior midfielder Shannon Gilroy leading the team with a career-high-tying seven. The Gators continue their home slate on Saturday at 1 p.m. when they host High Point.
SOFTBALL: The Gators travel to Las Vegas this weekend to participate in the Easton Desert Classic. Florida will play five games over three days at the tournament, which is hosted by UNLV.
On Friday, UF opens play against Seattle University at noon, followed by Hawaii at approximately 2:15 p.m. Saturday features contests against Ohio State (noon) and Cal State Northridge (2:15 p.m.), and the Gators wrap up their stay in Vegas in Sunday's noon finale against Minnesota.
