Thanks to its 6-0 start that included wins over two ranked teams, the Florida softball team climbed two spots to No. 1 in the ESPN.com /USA Softball Collegiate Top 25 poll released Tuesday.

It's Florida's first No. 1 ranking since Feb. 28, 2011.

Last week, the Gators claimed wins in Tampa over then-No. 23 USF and then-No. 4 Michigan, along with victories against Wisconsin (twice), Illinois State and Bethune-Cookman.

This week, the Gators open their home schedule Wednesday with a 6 p.m. game against Jacksonville University before traveling to Las Vegas for the Easton Desert Classic. UF will face five opponents including Hawaii and Minnesota, who are receiving votes in this week's poll.
